SANDO CABLE COMPOUNDS

The SANDO CABLE COMPOUNDS, mainly comprising the grades 7711 A/B and 7715 A/B are two component systems, based on depolymerised natural rubber. They can easily be filled into the cable or in the cable joint at room temperature and vulcanise at room temperature, providing a stiff rubber material that strongly adheres to the plastics and other materials present in the cable or the cable joint. In this way a safe and reliable waterblocking can be obtained.

The strong and fast structure of these compounds makes them very suitable for use in cables that are applied under extreme conditions like seismographic cables, underwater cables, combination cables etc.

Blending of the A- and B-component can easily be carried out in the standard packing of the A- component: a 5 l. bucket; the blending ratio is between 1 : 15 and 1 : 10. The open time is 8 to 12 hours, the vulcanisation time is 1 to 3 days. On request these periods can be adjusted.

The grade 7715 A/B has been especially developed for use in so called floating cables; the density of this compound is extremely low which helps to keep the filled cable floating.

Resuming the main advantages of the SANDO CABLE COMPOUNDS are :

- can be filled at room temperature

- reliable waterblocking and waterproofing

- compatible with most cable construction materials

- strengthens the cable

- open time and vulcanisation time adjustable

- withstand high pressure and severe conditions

CABLE COMPOUND 7711 A/B V6

This two component, room temperature vulcanising cable filler is based on natural rubber and has been especially developed for the waterproof filling of cables and accessories that are used under severe conditions like submarine cables, seismographic cables, combined power/communication cables etc.

Some of the advantages of this cable filler are:

- it can be easily filled at room temperature

- when properly filled it renders excellent waterblocking

- the vulcanised filling will not melt and strengthens the cable

The main physical date are:

- specific Gravity at 20C of A/B blend: 1.4

- viscosity at 20C of A/B blend measured immediately after blending and diluted with 10 % mineral oil: appr. 600 Pas.

It is recommended to homogenise both the A and the B component before mixing them in a ratio 100 : 6.7. The standard packing is based on this ratio.

At room temperature the potlife will be min. 8 hours. After 24 hours gelation will be apparent and at room temperature vulcanisation will be completed in a few weeks. At 60C vulcanising will be finished in appr. two hours.

When working with CABLE COMPOUND 7711 A/B it is better to avoid skin contact; see our safety data sheet.

Standard packing for the A-component in a bucket containing 5 kg and for the B-component a jar with 335 g. Deviating packing on request.

CABLE COMPOUND 7715 A/B V6

This natural rubber based two component system is especially developed for the waterproof filling of floating and other lightweight cables. The main merits of CABLE COMPOUND 7715 A/B V6 are the following:

- can be easily filled into the cable at room temperature

- starts gelating at room temperature after ca. 24 hours

- vulcanisation at room temperature completes in a few weeks

- accelerated vulcanisation can be made at 60C within two hours

- does not splash or drop out during filling

- does not form blisters during extrusion

- provides excellent and reliable waterblocking in the cable when properly filled

- the vulcanised material does not melt and strengthens the cable

- can be pealed off dry and easily

The compound can be prepared by mixing thoroughly 1 part of the B-component in 9 parts of the A-component. The standard packing is based on this ratio. It is recommended to homogenise both the A- and the B-component before mixing.

The most important physical characteristic of CABLE COMPOUND 7715 A/B V6 is the low density of approx. 0,65 at 20C. This item makes it attractive for use in all cases were a low cable weight is requested or preferred.

When working with this cable filler it is better to avoid skin contact, especially with the B-component. Wear gloves and do not eat, drink or smoke. See also the safety data sheet.

Standard packing for the A-component is a bucket containing 3 kg and for the B-component a jar containing 335 g. Deviating packing is available on request.
